Instead of hanging up a “Gone Fishin’ ” sign, I’ve opted for a “Gone Art Walkin’ ” sign. Can’t help but share the gorgeous locale of my art walk — Crested Butte, Colorado, home of many a fine artist, especially in landscape painting and photography.
The art walk along Crested Butte’s main drag and a few side streets is a monthly summer affair. It was a happy coincidence I was here for it — enjoying the sunshine and fresh air at 9,000 feet.
John Ingham Gallery featured the large-format landscape photographs of Raynor Knute Czerwinski — just stunning depictions of surrounding mountain scenery. The photographer’s portfolio is at lucidlandscape.com
I also enjoyed a quick look around at the Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery, with its variety of mountain landscapes and wildflower paintings. Crested Butte, by the way, boasts tremendous wildflowers in early July.
My vote for the funkiest gallery space goes to the Ice House, built around 1900. You have to duck to enter the stone building and prepare for low ceilings and cramped spaces.

Are you in Phoenix and still not on vacation?!? Go art walkin’!
